LHCPD Awarded Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Grant

The Lake Havasu City Police Department was awarded a $20,000 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) to be used for conducting DUI enforcement operations for the 2017-2018 federal fiscal year, which runs from October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018.  This grant provides the Lake Havasu City Police Department the ability to increase DUI enforcement capabilities by assigning personnel on overtime to concentrate on DUI enforcement activities.

This grant is being used mainly during holiday weekends, to concentrate on DUI enforcement in an effort to remove or deter impaired drivers from being on the roadway. This makes driving safer for all motorists.

As part of the grant safety contract, the police department is required to maintain and submit statistics to the GOHS on a regular basis.
